Self-Driven cars - The future of company cars?

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more techy – they did!

A car that can drive itself – it’s something we’ve always dreamed about, but now that dream is a reality. Although it hasn’t made its way over to the UK yet, we are excited to see what the future holds for this interesting creation. It’s still early days but the car is set to hit the roads of Nevada (why do the Americans get all the fun?) after being given their licence to test on public streets.

So it’s all fun and games at the moment, but can we really see this vehicle filling up our roads and driveways? or being the next best company cars?  The cars are guided by GPS, visual indicators, sensor, and artificial intelligence software. It all sounds very flash and 007. But what happens if the sensors are too sensitive? Or not sensitive enough? Or the software breaks? Will it be easy to repair or just a massive inconvenience?

Another aspect we’re concerned about is company fleets and their safety – Driving accidents can be fatal. Do we really trust technology enough to put our lives in its hands or are we taking technology too far? We would all like to sit back and relax while a computer does all the hard work, but in reality is it really possible?
