Fleet News reports on how company car usage has “fallen dramatically” – why is this? It seems technology continues to provide an alternative to traditional face-to-face meetings, and so less reason for the sales team to get in their cars and drive to a meeting!
Reports from the RAC Foundation and the Government’s National Travel Survey (NTS) released just before Christmas highlight the long-term trend. The RAC Foundation report – On the Move – highlighted a drop in the number of company cars per 1,000 people – again, is this due to less sales people on the road when it comes to company fleets?
The report also shows that annual mileage of company cars has fallen 18%, since 1995 to 2010 – in real terms that’s from 23,340 miles in 1995/97 to 19,190 miles in 2010.
Does this echo the trend in your company fleet ? Are your company car drivers travelling less now and if so, why?
