A new year, and time for some new year resolutions! A hot topic this year and a popular new years resolution is going green. So when it comes to the world of motors and fleet management, think electric cars! Electric vehicles have been on the market for quite a while now, but we’re hoping 2013 is going to be their big year. With even more electric cars on the road than ever before, we are now at around the 3000 mark in the UK.

Range of Electric Cars

There is now a real selection when it comes to the range of electric cars. So if you are thinking of going green, how are you to know which one to buy?

Here’s RunYourFleet’s top ones for 2013!

1. Volkswagen e-Up

Fast, smooth and easy to drive is the Volkswagen e-Up. A great city car with an 80 bhp electric motor. This car can run for about 90 miles before it needs to be recharged. It takes 6-8 hours to fully recharge the battery, so you can just pop it on when you go to bed –  much like you do with your phone!

2. Renault Zoe Z.E.

We love this car as it is one of the most affordable electric cars, starting at £13,650. It can go 130 miles before it needs to be charged. Another great quality about this car is that the battery can be charged to 80% full within 30 minutes. Perfect for those who regularly do long journeys!

3. Volkswagen Golf e-Motion

We all love a Golf so this one had to make the list. This car has a range of 100 miles and can go as fast 86mph. However it does take 7 hours to charge, another one to put on with your phone at night time.
