Thursday 9th September saw The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce preferred Fleet Management and Vehicle Funding partner and Henley-in-Arden based business, runyourfleet host guests and fellow Chamber members at Village Hotel Solihull, for an evening of VIP networking and an exclusive interview with British professional racing driver Darren Turner. Turner was interviewed by Motorsport Commentator and Journalist David Addison. Addison led the interview which took guests on a journey through the trials and tribulations of a local young boy looking to make it in the racing world through to the now success of Turners career. Turner shared highlights along the way including his wins at the toughest race of them all 24 hrs of Le Mans, an endurance focused race held annually near the town of Le Mans, France. Turner said of the event:
“I really enjoyed my evening with runyourfleet and the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. It’s always fun to be able to share the story of how I became a professional race driver and talk about the highs and lows of motorsport. Without doubt the journey would not have been possible unless supported by partners like runyourfleet. Nearly every sportsperson requires funding to be able to make their goals possible and I’m truly grateful and proud that the team at runyourfleet is behind me”
Darren Turner
The event was also live streamed to a wider audience which was led by runyourfleet’s partner, The British Racing and Sports Car Club. runyourfleet and the BRSCC formed a partnership earlier this year and work together to keep competitors and spectators safe with runyourfleet providing the provision of a Jaguar safety car which was on display during the event. Trevor Parry, the clubs Director added:
“A successful partnership for BRSCC goes beyond what takes place on the racetrack. Using our live stream resources perfectly brought together our club members, social media subscribers and runyourfleet’s partners. Reaction has been very positive, and this was the ideal platform for introducing our respective organisations in a memorable, imaginative and entertaining way”
Trevor Parry , Director, BRSCC
Following the interview and Q&A session guests were able to enjoy refreshments, a scrumptious buffet and were able to get back to some old-skool face to face networking. Delight spread through the room as guests were once again able to hold face to face conversations, mingle with fellow business owners and friends and share their feedback on the event and lockdown experiences. Steve Whitmarsh, Managing Director of runyourfleet attended the event and shared his personal experience:
“We were delighted to combine our key partnerships in one event – bringing together The Chambers of Commerce, the British Racing & Sports Car Club and Darren Turner. Darren, an Aston Martin works driver with 3 Le Mans wins to his name, is one of the most successful racing drivers in the UK, and David Addison did a fantastic job of bringing Darren’s story to life through the interview. There was plenty of time for networking and guests were able to view some of the British Racing & Sports Car Clubs rescue and safety vehicles. We look forward to hosting more events in the future and continuing to work alongside our partners”
Steve Whitmarsh, Managing Director, runyourfleet
